| Indian goddess hindu Lakshmi is the goddess of fortune, grace and charm, and loveliness, fertility, and beauty in Hindu mythology. Other names for Lakshmi are Skri. She is also worshipped in Buddhism. When a Hindu couple want a child, they often pray to her. She is believed to be kind to give children and presents because of her motherly feeling. Some Hindu believe that she is the mother of the universe. |

Lakshmi is believed to be the wife of Vishnu, and she is married to Rama ( incarnation of Vishnu).
Legends of Lakshmi :
Once there was a short tempered sage name Durvasa. Durvasa gives a garland of flowers to the king of all gods, Indra. Unfortunately, Indra give the flower to his elephant Airvata. It trampled the flower, and Durvasa saw it. The sage cursed all the god to be powerless. After the god become powerless, the demon vanished them from heaven.
The defeated god seek help to Lord Brahma who suggested that they needed to churn the ocean to get the nectar of immortality. During the churning of ocean, Lakshmi arose from the ocean, and she choose Shri Vishnu as her husband. Because of her birth, Lakshmi is also known of the daughter of the sea.
